Boo Kitty 2

Where did the weekend go, crafters?! I need another day, LOL! I was watching Tim Holtz’s newest Stampers Anonymous reveal on YouTube yesterday. My goodness, there are many wonderful artists out there. I was especially inspired by the envelope art by Nathifa Sligh and decided that my Halloween cards this year need corresponding envelopes. Boo Kitty was chosen to be the first to have an envelope friend. Here is Boo Kitty’s story.

As you can see in the card, she is following a butterfly and is in front of a somewhat scary house. As she draws near the house, she stops.

She sees a witch brewing a potion in her cauldron. She sees the green bubbles arising from the brew and tells her friend, Sam, they need to leave. Poor Sam… He doesn’t listen and gets too close.

He is forced to drink the potion and becomes the witch’s minion. Boo Kitty is sad for Sam. But Sam reassures her saying “I know right from wrong. Wrong is the fun one.”

Boo Kitty is sad that she will no longer have Sam to play with, but is happy to remember him before his eyes became glowing green.

The Challenges Boo Kitty and Sam will enter include: Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge, Double Trouble Challenge, 2 Crafty Critter Crazies, Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, Watercooler Wednesday Challenge

Baby, It’s Cold Outside

Happy Hormonal Holdiay?, crafters. The sistahs over at The Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers have hormonal as a theme for this challenge. For those of us with low thyroid hormone, we tend to run cold (even in Texas summers🥶). So that made me think of this sentiment and the holiday ladies from Whimsy Stamps. This background and image were calling for bold primary colors. Yep… Red,Yellow,Blue. Bright!!! Although I showcased the yellow and red, my favorite of the three is Blue.😊 The coloring was done with Copics (Y08,B28,B26,B24,R27,R29,R20,Y28,C1,C0) and WindserNewton Flesh tones. I used Express It paper from Copic as I new I would be wanting a well colored and “seemless” bacground. The black dots were added after the yellow coloring with Memento black ink and a bit of masking.

Stay cool, y’all!

Joyous Holiday Crafting

Happy Holiday Crafting! I’m back playing with mixed media. It all started with a dry embossing challenge, and the fun began. Here’s the recipe for the background:

  • Silver Cardstock
  • Fern Embossing Folder
  • Green Alcohol Ink
  • Distressed Oxide Paint: Rustic Wilderness, Walnut Stain.
  • Distressed Oxide: Bundled Sage
  • SSS Snow stencil
  • Range Matte Texture Paste
  • Ranger Rock Candy Dry Glitter
  • Perfect Pearls: Confetti White, Zinnia

Once I had the background done, I cut the wreath(Tonic studios-Under The Mistletoe), twice, out of white card stock. I then used distressed inks in browns (Walnut Stain, Gathered Twigs, Ground Expresso) for the wreath in the back and greens (Bundled Sage and Peeled Paint) for the wreath in the foreground. Once they were stacked, I added Red Nuvo drops and allowed them to dry. I then splattered some white gauche paint. Then on to Ranger Matte Texture Paste spread randomly over the wreaths and Range Rock Candy Dry Glitter sprinkled on top. A few last gold stars were added from the stash. The wreath is mounted with some foam tape on the background.

The JOY, deer and #25 were all cut from the Cricut. Joy was cut out of red card stock and inked with Black Soot Distressed Oxide. Then fine red glitter and Clear Texture Paste from Range were placed over the letters. #25 was embossed with Ranger embossing dauber and Marshmallow embossing powder from Emerald Creek. The deer was colored with Distressed Oxide Walnut Stain and Gathered Twigs. Then details were added to the deer with Prismacolor pencils along with some white and black gel pens.

The wood frames come from Hero Arts-Wood Frame Infinity Dies. Then Distressed Oxide paints (Black Soot, Walnut Stain, Ground Expresso) along with Gold acrylic were used to add interest to them.

The last bit of fun was the snow. It is a combination of pearls, clear drops, Ranger Matte Texture Paste, Range Rock Candy Dry Glitter and some mica flakes from the stash.

Happy Crafty Weekend, Everyone!

Good morning……..crafters! And, cardmakers!!!

I am starting this week out with an exceptionally CAS card. I’m back to my Cricut (seems to be my go to these days…LOL!). My sentiment is from the Rabbit Hole Design and then a little black gel pen and thread to finish my puppy’s hello.

New Monday. New Week. Enjoy!

Boo Kitty

Happy Weekend, crafters and card makers! I’m back with more Halloween..👻 The background is patterned paper from my stash which was stamped with images from Stampers Anonymous Sketch Manor in Memento Rich Cocoa. Some dimension was added to the background with orange pan pastel and Vintage Photo Distressed Ink. The die cuts are from Cricut access. The pumpkin was cut from a gel print of purple and copper and details added with Metallic Wax in Firebird. The cat was embossed with Ranger sticky embossing powder and sprinkled with Distressed Glitter Nightfall. BOO and scrollwork were cut from brown card stock and embellished with Distressed Mica sprays in Empty Tomb and Crooked Broomstick. The butterfly is basic black card stock sprayed with empty tomb. The ground is two layers both cut from a coordinating patterned paper. The back layer’s base is Distressed grit paste. It was then attacked with some inky goodness (Distressed Oxide Spray-Carved Pumpkin and Black Soot, Distressed Mica Spray -Antique Bronze, irRESISTible Texture Spray Tuxedo Black). For the front ground layer, layers of Distressed Grit Paste Crypt and Distressed Texture Base Grave were applied. Then simple coloring with Distressed Crayons in Black Soot and Walnut Stain. A simple sentiment “Blessed are the Curious” was stamped with Versafine Onxy Black Ink.

Witching Hour

Happy Early Tuesday, crafters! I am creating more Halloween cards this evening. The layout began with the white die cut and the silhouettes. I don’t have any slimeline dies, so I used what I had and used cricut files. Of course, the background had to be fun and playful; it is a combination of Distressed Spray Stain (Dried Marigold, Antique Linen), Distressed Oxide Spray (Dried Marigold) and Distressed Mica Spray (Antique Bronze). After the inks had a moment to dry, some sparkle was added using Mimosa Glitter by Art Glitter Glue, Ranger embossing dabber and Ranger sticky embossing powder. Final touches were added with black Nuvo drops and a few drops and stars from Shimmerz Desert Sky embellishments.

Witching everyone a Happy Week!

Harvest Fairy Friends

Happy Friday Evening, crafters! I had so much fun this evening! I was playing with some stamps and ink this evening. Thinking of Fairies (F stands for fairy friends, a twofer 😁)This card is inspired by Inkybliss Sunset Stroll’. Of course, I didn’t have all the supplies, so lots of improve was involved. I started with Arches Cold pressed watercolor paper. It was sprayed with water and Distressed Ink was added: Antique Linen, Tumbled Glass, Squeezed Lemonade and Spiced Marmalade. Then I stamped the background with Memento Luxe Dandelion, Versafine Clair Summertine, Versfine Clair Purple Delight and Memento Rich Cocoa. Distressed oxide in Squeezed lemonade, Abandoned Coral, Aged Mahogany and Dusty Concord was used for clouds and hills. Pan pastels in orange, white and yellow were added to the sky. The butterfly and fairy were stamped in Versamrak Onyx Black Ink. Embellishments were added with Posca pens in yellow and orange, gold gel pen, puprle gel pen and orange glitter.
