Frosted Friends Box Bag

For this month’s Colorful Options challenge, I chose green and stitched up this quilted box bag. The woodland fabric with rabbits and little forest creatures felt like the perfect way to celebrate the color of nature. A fun sewing project and a practical bag all in one!

If you enjoy creating with color, we invite you to play along with the Colorful Options Challenge. Each month we feature a color prompt, but there’s always an option — if the featured color isn’t your thing, you can join with a rainbow-inspired project instead. Cards and other creative makes are welcome, including painting, crochet, quilting, digital art, and more. Share your creativity and come see how others are inspired by color!

Moonlight Guardian

For this month’s Colorful Options Challenge, I chose to explore green through a moody, mythical scene in gouache paint on canvas.

I wanted the green to feel alive — not flat, but layered and luminous. By shifting between deep forest tones and brighter yellow-greens, I was able to give the serpent dimension and movement. The moonlit sky adds contrast, with cooler blues balancing the warmth in the highlights.

The foliage framing the scene allowed me to build texture and depth, almost as if the viewer is peering through the leaves. The subtle glow along the creature’s back helps guide the eye and brings the guardian forward from the shadows.

Green felt like the perfect color to tell this story — mysterious, powerful, and rooted in nature.

Colorful Friends

Hello, crafty friends!
Today I’m sharing my design team project for The Colorful Options Challenge—and this one is a dive into the stash for an oldie but a goodie.

Who doesn’t love the combination or Rosie and Bernie from Stamping Bella?! I took my inspiration from the pinks on the inspiration photo, with a little bit of Lavender in Bernie’s muzzle, mane, tail & corn. Some simple pencil coloring with a little splash from gel pens (the hearts & tights) for some fun.

Thanks for stopping by, and I can’t wait to see what you create this month.🩷💜🤍

Panda Pom

Hello, and Happy New Year!

I am starting this year with a different craft than I usually post. I decided to knit up a cozy hat, modeled by my studio companion. He wears it more than I as this is where it rests when not in use.

The colors don’t show perfectly in the photo, but the yarn is a stormy mix of charcoal grey and deep midnight blue, with the faintest whisper of olive running through the strand. This serves as my design team contribution for the Colorful Options Challenge this January. Our color palette this month is blue, white & grey. I chose to play with the blue & a charcoal grey. Remember, any color version of the colors posted is fair game.

If you would like to make this hat, I used the pattern Après Beanie by Smeeny Made Wild on Ravelry, #13 circular needles, Malabrigo Rasta 303 Navegante, and Lovafur Luxe Faux Fur Pom Lurex Raccoon.

Thanks for stopping by, and I can’t wait to see what you create this month.🔵⚪️⚫️🌈
