Colorshifting Shanna

Shanna, the She-Devil, is trying to evade Poseidon; he is none too happy with her possession of his trident. She has color shifted above to pink. She seems to think the Poseidon is dim enough not to recognize her. 🙄 The pink didn’t work, so she decided to shift to a third color, purple.

Which color suits Shanna best? Red? Pink? Purple? What are your thoughts? Look out for a how-to video. Coming soon to Colorful Options TV on YouTube.

How the Devil are You?

Shanna the She-Devil is here welcoming you to a fun-filled February! She is up to some antics as she has stolen Poseidon’s Trident. Apparently, she is hanging out with Hades in the Underworld. I hope for her sake that Posiden ventures to the Underworld to retrieve it. Until then, Shanna bids you a warm embrace.😈🤭

Fairy Friends

Little Bess, a mushroom fairy, is hanging out with her friend, Flopsy. The two are on their way to tea with Rosetta and Fawn. It is almost spring, which means that the garden talent and animal fairies are soon to be very busy. On their way to tea, they stop to pick some strawberries. They are hoping they go well with the tea and crumpets.

Bess stands about 18 inches tall and her pattern comes from Unicorns, Dragons, and More Fantasy Amigurumi by Sedef Bay. Yarn supplies: Red-Yarn Bee, White- DMC embroidery thread, tan and pink from the stash. The embroidery hook sizes were a #2.2mm for the white and a #4.2mm for all other colors. This adorable doll was created by Eden as a design team member for the Colorful Options’ February Challenge. Don’t forget, Colorful Options welcomes ALL crafts. Chloe’s Birthday Cheer

My friend, Chloe, was too excited about the 1st birthday of her new little niece, Isabella. When spending time with Isabella, Chloe plays with alphabet flashcards. So, “B is for Birthday” had to be on Isabella’s first card. Like all special Aunties, she went a little over the top with the number of gifts. Not that she needed much encouragement, shopping is Chloe’s Achille’s heel.

This cheerful card was created with the use of the following supplies:

  • Image: Twisttoon’s Present and Bows, Black Widow Pencils
  • Background: Spun Sugar Distressed Ink, Perfect Pearls Pink Gumball
  • Cricut Design Space: Sentiment and presents (inside card)
  • Gel Pens: Glitter Black Cricut 0.8, Glitter Pink Cricut 0.8mm
  • Prismacolor pencils

Stay Warm, Friends

Happy Saturday Night Crafting, everyone!! My focal image is from the pretty women set at Picket Fences. Memento Ink was used to stamp her so that I could use Copic markers, my favorite coloring medium. I love the full coverage that Copics give. I used the colors B000,B00, R46,R27,R29, E29, E49. Way easy coloring!! I created a sentiment with my Cricut and found this fab paper from Whimsy Stamps. The background paper reminded me of the inspiration image and the play on lights. My “matching envelope” was made with a Bokah stencil and white ink. The Inspiration Station and The Card Concept Challenge inspired me to use the stamp with the warm cup of cocoa. The Whimsy stamp background reminds me of the Inspiration Station image’s background. Have a great Sunday, crafters! Stay warm & safe!!!!

Penguin Holiday

Happy Winter Tuesday, crafters! This is my first Christmas/Winter card for 2022. I was inspired by the current challenge over at Double Trouble: 3 patterned papers??? So it screamed to me, paper piecing. The background is pattern number 1, supplied by Whimsy Stamps. The other two patterned papers are from my stash and make up the penguin’s hat and scarf. El penguino and sentiment are Cricut access files. They were easy to cut and put together. I inked the edges of the snow with Speckled Egg Distressed Oxide to match the green glow of the snowy background.

Despresso

It’s a gouache Sunday here in the cold State of Texas. Geezzzz….. 35° ????? I would like to send this weather back north, please. On the plus side, great crafting weather! 😁 On to the card. My layout was inspired by Jen and Kelli during their facebook live yesterday. My sentiment and stamp are from the Rabbit Hole Design. The caffinated dragon was stamped on watercolor paper and colored with gouache. The background is a stencil from Kindred Stamps along with truly simple ink blending.

My sentiment is embossed in grey embossing powder from the stash. It’s hard to read, but it says, “Despresso: the feeling you get when you run out of coffee.”

Stay warm and safe!

Whose Watching?

TGIF, CRAFTERS!!! After a stressful week, I am looking forward to some quality time in my craft room this weekend; can anyone relate? So I’ve been working on this card and its layout for a few days. It started with some fun and easy ink blending; the colors chosen are reminiscent of the inspiration photo(LR) from the Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge. Thank you, Diane and Darlene!! I had to use my new-to-me die-cut Frightening Faces by Tim Holtz, Sizzix; and, the inspiration board lent itself to this. I added a border of a black cat, jack-o-lantern and trees I designed on Cricut. Some purple paper got some glimmer added with the Hocus Pocus Mica spray. The sentiment (Tim Holtz) was stamped with Versamark Ink and Perfect Pearls in Berry Twist applied.

Thank you, Kawaii Style

Happy Weekend, Crafters! I have been working on thank you cards this week. I had not made anything in a Kawaii style in a while and decided that would be the style for my thank yous this year. These are clearly Tokidoki-inspired cards. My girls have nicknamed this type of card QAC (pronounce ‘quack’), quick and cute.

My unicorn card started with the background; it is origami paper by Tokidoki. The center image is also Tokidoki which comes from one of their coloring books. I traced Unicorno onto bristol smooth cardstock using a lightbox and a Copic Liner pen. To stay with Kawaii style, simple coloring, a gold sharpie was used along with a clear Wink of Stella pen. The sentiment is from a Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous set. Unicorno and the sentiment are adhered with a little foam tape.

My second card follows the same pattern as the first, origami paper and a coloring book image. However, a few more colors were used for Donutella, Copic markers (E55,RV00,RV13, E51). How does one add donut glaze to an image? Pretty easy…. Nuvo drops! I used Nuvo drops in Simply White, Shocking Pink, and Rhubarb Crumble. Once the glaze was dry, I added the sprinkles using a very small paintbrush and acrylic paints. The sentiment was stamped with Archival Ink in Vintage Photo; the sentiment is from a retired Designing Desert Divas set. The sentiment and focal image are mounted on some foam tape to finish the card. For a little whimsy, some very small donuts from Kindred Stamps were added to the sentiment strip.

My last image was inspired by a card I saw on Instagram; my apologies as I do not remember the maker. My focal image is a stamp I bought from Michaels a few years back; she is stamped in Memento black ink and colored with Copic RV00. Layers of pink and grey card stock were stitched and layered up; stitching on cards is new to me. The sentiment is from the same stamp set and stamped in Versafine Onyx Black Ink. A small heart from Kindred Stamps was added to the sentiment strip for some interest.

Dead Men Tell No Tales

Good evening, crafters! We’ve been busy over here…… too cold to go outside. This is my first Halloween card of the year!!!! OM goodness, this was too much fun. I used Antique Linen Distressed Spray on watercolor cardstock for the skull and background. The sentiment was downloaded and cut using Cricut and watercolor paper; while the ink was still wet, it was sprayed with the same Distressed spray to allow the ink to bleed. The edges were touched a bit with Black Soot Distressed Oxide Ink. The bound pirate skull……. he is a stamp from Stampers Anonymous and was fussy cut. My cut was traced and then inked on the background so no white “bleed-through” would show through. His is bound with 2×2 gauze that was tinted with the same Distressed spray. The background was lightly cut with TH’s deckle trimmer and a simple black border finishes it up.
