Now, Begin Thy Magic Spell

“A poisoned apple! Ho-ho-ho-ho-ho! One taste of the Poisoned Apple, and the victim’s eyes will close forever in the Sleeping Death. Dip the apple in the brew. Let the Sleeping Death seep through.” – Evil Queen

The recipe, you desire? You sure? Hopefully no draught of living death here:

Ingredients:

Prep Time: 20 minutes Craft Time: 1 day-ish Yield: 1 card

Directions:

Spray the Red Warm Tim Holtz Cardstock with a very liberal layer of Candied Apple Red Distressed Ink and allow to dry. The dry time is many hours ( think 6+), however, it will dry. Print the Digi image from The Graphics Fairy on craft card stock. Apply Distressed crayon in Bubling Cauldron using the stencil over the printed Digi image to achieve the background. Use the Time Holtz Green Cold Cardstock in combination with his Poison embossing folder to add a second layer. Then use a mixture of Candied Apple Red and Aged Mahogany on the embossed paper to give it a slight red tint. By now the red cardstock should be dry, using the Cricut and SVG files, cut it out along with the lime green to form the apple. The SVG is available through Cricut. Liberally apply Peeled Paint Distressed Ink and Bubling Cauldron Distress Mica Spray to the lime green cut cardstock. While still wet, add the hot glue to the edges to form the ooze. Immediately after adding the glue, with the ink still somewhat wet, use your embossing gun or heat tool to melt the glue; this will help incorporate the ink into the glue to give it the green ooze look. Type your sentiment and cut it to size with a paper trimmer. Use Aged Mahogony Distress Oxide Ink to ink the sides of your sentiment. Last, just some glue to put the layers together.

Inspiration Card: The Colorful Options Challenge – olive and lime green

Fairy Forest Cottage

This cute little fairy home was brought to life by Eden. As Lawn Fawn products are her favorite stamps, she chose Fairy Friends and Frosty Fairy Friends to create her scene. The images were stamped with Ink on 3 disappearing ink and then colored with a varitey of Prismacolored pencils. The tree and bushes were painted using Distressed Oxide Rustic Wilderness paint and decorative moss as her sponge. Why moss…. why not? She thought that the the moss would create the mossy forest effect she had envisioned.

This is Eden’s contribution to the Colorful options Challenge. It’s time for another month and another color challenge at the Colorful Options Challenge. This month, can you guess? The color is GREEN!

To check out the challenge, just click on the photo above or below. Our color this month is green… ANY green. Remember, the color does NOT need to be monochromatic; just the primary color needs to be a shade of green. If you do not like green, a card with a rainbow of colors is also welcome. Hope to see everyone’s makes soon! Cheers! Eden

Spring Butterflies

“Butterflies are flowers with wings.”

It’s time for another month and another color challenge at the Colorful Options Challenge. This month, can you guess? The color is GREEN!

My Colorful Options cards involved lots of inky fun. I was inspired by a Tim Holtz technique video using stencils with spray stains. The sprays used with the stencil were Distressed Inks-Peeled Paint and Rustic Wilderness with a little Bubbling Cauldron to add some shine and shimmer. The birthday card’s background had an initial layer of Distressed Oxide in Peeled Paint and Shabby Shutters prior to stenciling. Adding color to the butterflies was done by the addition of ink to the embossing folder.

To check out the challenge, just click on the photo above. Our color this month is green… ANY green. Remember, the color does NOT need to be monochromatic; just the primary color needs to be a shade of green. If you do not like green, a card with a rainbow of colors is also welcome. Hope to see everyone’s makes soon! Cheers! Makira

For the Love of a Horse

It’s spring and the horses are ready. “Here we come Churchill Downs!” Rosemary and her filly Include Betty are ready!

For the pony obsessed, I present this sweet card

The paper is from Stamperia Romantic Horses and vellum I had in the stash. The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted Unicorns and stamped with Versamark Clair Morning Mist. The white and rose pink cardstock is from the stash as well. The technique for this card comes from a Stampin Up youtube video by Rachael Tessman; fast forward to 6:03 for the technique of the video to start.

This card was inspired by the Double Trouble Challenge. Thing One requests a card to be spring-related; I could think of nothing more “Spring-y” than the Kentucky Derby. I received this paper as part of my Christmas gift last year and thought these sweet flowers fit the Spring vibe well. Thing 2 is desiring a “fun-fold” card. I stumbled across this fun-fold card layout by Rachael Tessman and had to recreate it for my DD14 whose 15th b-day will be in just a few short weeks. She loves horses and this girl and pony from the ephemera pack by Stamperia I thought was perfect. A little velvet Ribbon from Tim Holtz, gives it a finishing touch.

Have a Pawsome Day!

“Now! Now! Have no fear. Have no fear! My tricks are not bad,” said the Cat in the Hat.

I am presenting my version of a CAS card this sunny, cold Saturday morning. My Cat in the Hat was created by Eden and then placed into a button and added to a spotted rosette. Four coordinating strips of patterned paper create a more interesting background. A simple sentiment in Versafine Clair Monarch completes my birthday card.

Yumm…..Chocolate

Happy Hump Day! My friend, Winnie is enjoying some chocolate she received for Valentine’s Day earlier this week. Doesn’t it look good?! Winnie comes from the Etsy Seller PolkadoodlesDigi. She was printed on 80lb Nina Solar White paper and colored with a combo of Copics and Prismacolors. Then, with fingers crossed and breath held, cut out with a Scan ‘N Cut. The Rabbit Hole Designs provides her sentiment that is embossed with Versamark ink and Emerald Creek’s Just Java powder.

Give Credit Where Credit is Blue

“If you see a tree as blue, then make it blue.” Paul Gauguin

This card is 100% Tim Holtz-inspired. This is a background that was in my “stash.” I made this background about two months ago when my splat-box and I were spending quality time together; I had just received the Christmas Mica Sprays and had to play. I found it last night and thought what a lovely background for the embossing technique demonstrated on yesterday’s YouTube Live. The stencil is by Rebekah Meier Designs for TheCraftersWorkshop. I used the grit paste and then “sprinkled” the various embossing glazes/embossing powder over the paste. I allowed it to dry for 30 minutes and heat embossed it. Pretty simple. But WOW! Such a fabulous result. Given that my stencil had some good detail, I decided to just frame and mount it as-is on the card. I even “borrowed” the layout for my photo from Tim’s blog. 🤭 Enjoy your Sunday!!

One Sip at a Time

Rosie and Bernie have met up at Le Café Tournon in Paris, France They are enjoying a beautiful sunny afternoon on the patio. As they await their food, they savor some coffee and good conversation. What a lucky duo!

This pastel couple has been brought to life as a result of becoming a guest designer for Double Trouble Challenge for the month of February.

The recipe for this card had a few ingredients to merge to meet Double Trouble’s requirements. Thing One has ordered a color challenge with a palette of pastels. I opted for green, pink, lavender, and yellow. Thing Two requested hearts. So, bookending my sentiment are a pair of hearts; you can find them at Kindred Stamps. Stamping Bella’s Rosie and Bernie are stamped in Versamark Onyx black ink and colored in Prismacolor pencils on Nina solar white 110 lb card stock. The Parisian background was created using lime green cardstock, Rustic Wilderness Distress Ink, and Gabrielle Polacco’s stencil, Blueprint. The Rabbit Hole Designs- Perfectly Blended contributes to the sentiment. A thin frame of white and black adds a little finishing touch.

Coffee. Smile. Laugh. Repeat.

A Mother’s Love

TGIF, makers!!! I hope everyone is warm and safe! I have today a CAS card; these are not my forte. But, I love seeing all the CAS cards out there. I used Distressed Ink in Candied Apple and Kitsch Flamingo for the background, along with a little gold watercolor. A little Versamark black ink and May May Made It’s “Vinne’s Fav” provides the focal point. A small red frame with a sentiment from Clearly Besotted and you’re done! I hope you like it 😁
