Hello August! And artists! And crafters!

It is the beginning of a new month on the Colorful Options Challenge. Mideela and Zemira provide the center point for my rainbow-inspired contribution this month. What a great set of friends! Here’s what you need for this duo,

Supplies:

• Papers: Arteza Watercolor Paper,Black Black 110lb cardstock, 110lb Nina Solar White cardstock
• Inks: Distress Oxide (Tumbled Glass, Scattered Straw), Distress Ink (Spun Sugar)
• Lavinia Stamp Sets: Mideela, Zemira
• Stencils: Tim Holtz Sparkle, Lavina Stamps Elegance
• Inks: Versafine Onyx Black Ink,
• Black Acrylic paint
• Distress Oxide Matte Texture Paste

Directions:

Cut the watercolor card stock down to 5×7. Apply texture paste through the stencil. Allow drying time. Apply the pink, blue and yellow ink with a blending sponge or brush, making sure to overlap the colors. Spritz with a little water to allow the colors to blend. Dry. Use a stamping platform to ink up Mideela and Zemira. I didn’t like the result I achieved, so I painted them with blacky acrylic paint after inking. Layer it up with mattes as you desire and glue it down. Enjoy!!!

Hello friends! It’s a new month, which means a new challenge over at the Colorful Options Challenge! The color this month is TURQUOISE! How much fun is that??? Turquoise always makes me think of oceans; however, my contribution to the challenge is a home decor item with butterflies. My rainbow-inspired contribution can be found in my post Hello, Again, Hello.

I thought this would be a great summer house decoration. Here’s what you need.

Supplies:

• Box: Tim Holtz Ideology craft box
• Acrylic paint: Distress paint in Tumbled Glass and Salvaged Patina
• Clear Modge Podge
• Collage paper: Tim Holtz entymology
• Distress Oxide Ink: Salvaged Patina
• Distress Glaze: Salvaged Patina
• Distress Oxide Collage Medium
• Ideology: metal word; chip board sentiments

Directions:

Cut the collage paper to fit the box. Turn the paper over and paint the backside of the paper with acrylic paint as you desire. Using either collage Medium or Mod Podge, glue the collage paper to the box, placing a layer of medium over the paper as well. Paint the metal sentiment with Distress collage medium and sprinkle with glaze. Allow drying. Emboss with the embossing gum. Ink the chip board sentiments with Distress Oxide. Glue the sentiments to the box. You’re done!!

Happy August, fiber artists! It’s the beginning of a new month and a new design for my color-of-the-month contribution over at the Colorful Options Challenge. This month I designed a collar for my cat. She has a tendency to hide, and we cannot find her. It makes giving her her daily medicine quite difficult. The solution? Attach an Apple GPS to her collar. There was nothing like this that I could find, so I crocheted a collar with a “pouch” for the GPS. Don’t worry, the placket is a breakaway attachment. Enjoy!

• Inks: Distress Oxide Ink in Wilted Violet, Villanous Potion, Kitsch Flamingo, Scattered Straw, Tea Dye, Aged Mahogany, Tumbled Glass, Vintage Photo
• Ink Sprays: Prize Ribbon, Tumbled Glass
• Distress Mica Spray: Snow Flurries
• Distress Oxide Crackle Texture Paste Matte

Directions:

Cut the watercolor cardstock to 5.25 x 4.0. Stamp the image in Memento black ink. Apply the texture paste through the stencil. While the paste dries, use a water brush and the Distress Oxide inks to color the witch. Once the witch dries, apply the glaze to the areas you do NOT want any background ink to cover. Get out your splat box ☺, mist the paper with water, and spray using the ink and mica sprays until you are happy. Allow drying time. Stamp the clouds with Faded Jeans and the village with Unicorn White. Apply the metallic luster to the edges. Using the Copic liner, redraw the lines as needed for crisp outlines. Embellish with a white gel pen and a jewel for her necklace. Layer up your frames, and you got this!

• Ink Sprays: Villanous Potion, Saltwater Taffy, Abandoned Coral, Tumbled Glass.
• Acrylic paint: Distress paint in Saltwater Taffy, Tumbled Glass, Dusty Concord; Clear Gesso
• Clear Rock Candy Glitter
• Stamp sets: Tim Holtz’s Tiny Text
• Embossing Folder: Tim Holtz’s Pocket Watches
• Cricut Cut for “You Got This”

Directions:

Cut the Black Black card stock down to 3.75 x 5.55. Lightly mist and emboss. Using a makeup sponge, lightly dry paint the background with Dusty Concord. Once dry, use a brayer and lightly apply the Saltwater Taffy and Tumbled Glass. Allow drying time again, use the brayer and clear gesso lightly to random parts of the cardstock; sprinkle glitter while wet and tap off the excess. Spritz a mat with the ink sprays and take up the colors with watercolor paper. Dry. Using a sponge applicator, ink the watercolor paper with Abandoned Coral and Saltwater Taffy. Cut the paper to create a frame. Use the leftovers to cut out a sentiment and a sentiment strip. Ink the strip with TH’s tiny text and black ink. Layer it up and glue it down. Enjoy!!!

She will wake shortly for prowling to ensure no creatures are stirring. Her miniature friend has brought her a small gift but is careful to let her nap. I am sure she will be thrilled when she awakes.

Happy Weekend, crafty friends! I have gone from Ghostface’s macabre to some sweet butterfly wishes. I was playing with combining Saltwater Taffy and Salvaged Patina… and this pick-me-up card is the result. Hope you enjoy!!

• Inks: Distress Oxide & Distress Ink Stamp pads (Salvaged Patina, Saltwater Taffy, Abandoned Coral), Versamark Embossing Ink
• Embossing Folders: Impresslit Butterfly, Tim Holt’s 3-D Embossing Swirls
• Embossing Glaze: Salvaged Patina, Saltwater Taffy

Directions:

Cut the watercolor card stock down to 5.0x 3.75. Ink the inside of the 3D embossing folder with Salvaged Patina. Lightly mist your watercolor paper and run through the machine. Allow drying. Rub the metallic lustre randomly over the paper to give it more depth. Then rub (or pain) collage medium randomly and dust the medium with clear rock candy. For the “sentiment” background, ink up the Tiny Text stamps with Versamark ink and sprinkle with a mixture of Salvaged Patina glaze and silver embossing powder. Cut a white piece of cardstock to 5.5×4.25. Stitch the sentiment background and white paper with turquoise thread and your sewing machine. Cut the two peach frames from cardstock and ink the edges with Oxide in Saltwater Taffy and Abandoned Coral. Cut out your butterfly from the same peach paper. Using glossy accents, give the butterfly a raised body. Now paint your butterfly until you are happy with the result. Using collage medium, pain the butterfly’s body and sprinkle with Art Glitter. Choose a sentiment and emboss it with a mixture of Saltwater Taffy glaze and silver embossing powder. Glue your layers together; I used fun foam to back the 3D embossed layer.

TGIF friends! I have been following Craft Roulette on YouTube for a few months; it’s live on Friday evenings when I have some downtime – YEAH! I love that it makes me think outside the box I put myself in. My current box has been galaxy/Star Wars related. Nothing that I could use for this week’s challenge. However, the inspiration for this card comes from another Youtube channel: The Paper Outpost. I was mesmerized by such a simple drawing technique and was waiting for the opportunity to give it a try. So, the flowers on this card are hand-drawn. WHAT? yep! I can color, layout, and design, but hand draw??? not so much!!! But, I successfully made it happen. Thank you, Pam! Not only did I hand draw but I made a single-layer card. Oh my!! What a Friday!!

Supplies:

• Papers: Arteza Watercolor Paper, Purple Card Stock, White Fun Foam
• Inks: Distress Spray Stain (Tumbled Glass, Peeled Paint) Distress Oxide Spray (Tumbled Glass, Speckled Egg, Old Paper), Distress Oxide Stamp pads (Dried Marigold, Bundled Sage, Wilted Violet, Uncharted Mariner, Forest Moss)
• EK Success ink pen
• Distress Powder: Black Soot
• Distress Micro Glaze
• Archival Ink: Black Soot, Hickory Smoke, Peeled Paint, Speckled Egg
• Versamark Embossing Ink
• Stampers Anonymous Stamps: Ledger Script, Faded Type, Simple Sayings, Mini Media Marks

Directions:

Cut the watercolor card stock down to 5.5x 4.25. Draw your flowers using EK Success Ink Pen. Using cotton balls, ink your flowers using Wilted Violet, Dried Marigold, and Bundled Sage. Once dry, cover your flowers and leaves with micro glaze and get out your splat box. using the spray inks and oxides, spray and dry in layers until you are happy with the result. Allow drying or dry with a heat tool. Then, using the Archival ink, script stamps, and mini-media stamps, stamp as desired. Place your sentiment and use the embossing ink and Distress Powder to make it stand out. Finally, use Uncharted Mariner and Forest Moss to ink the sides. Pop it up on fun foam and mount it on your card stock. Honestly, this was fast and fun to make. I hope you enjoy it!

Welcome back, friends! Any idea where my quote is from?? Just having some galactic fun!

Staying with the theme of my new blog background this month, I’m off to create another galaxy-inspired card. Watercolor you say? Umm…..NO! I like watercolor and 💖💖💖 the Youtube watercolor artists. But that is not my jam. However, the inspiration for this card does come from watercolor art. Instead of watercolor, I used a host of Distress Inks, along with a little masking. Stay cool!

Supplies:

• Papers: Arteza Watercolor Paper, Shimmer Blue Card Stock
• Inks: Distress Spray Stain (Candied Apple, Black Soot, Uncharted Mariner, Prize Ribbon, Picket Fence) Distress Oxide Stamp pads (Black Soot)
• Stencils: Moon masl
• Sizzix dies: Rupert – colorize
• Masking fluid: Winsor & Newton
• Tim Holtz Deckle Trimmer

Directions:

Cut the watercolor card stock down to 5.75 x 4.5. Tape your watercolor paper onto a board using low-tack tape. For your planet or moon, use the smallest moon mask and trace the outline; mask your planet using masking fluid. Once the fluid is dry, use a combination of inks and water on your paper applying in layers until you are happy with your sky. Allow drying. Remove your masking fluid and paint your planet/moon. I used a combination of Uncharted Mariner with Prize Ribbon to obtain the color I wanted. I then used the second moon mask to create some dimension for my planet. It was then embellished and smudged with more layers until happy. I added a little spaceship for fun that I drew and cut with my Cricut. I tried the watercolor paper down to 5.25 x 4.0 and mounted it on the shimmer blue card stock.

Hello friends! Its July! May the 4th be with you! Are you excited about a long weekend? Have any time set aside for making? I know, I do!

It’s a new month. So, of course, there is a new challenge over at the Colorful Options Challenge! I think you will like this one: RED, WHITE, BLUE. As always, if you don’t like these colors, a rainbow of colors is always welcome. My contribution this month for the rainbow option can be found in my post-Rainbow Friends.

I did use all three colors of the month; but, the emphasis is clearly on red and blue. Remember, you can use neutrals with your entry, mine is clearly black. Have fun, and be creative! This set was inspired by Kindred Stamps. I love Star Wars and couldn’t wait to start a set of cards with a villains theme! So, here they are!!

I love making inky backgrounds. This one was fast and easy! I generally use watercolor paper for inky backgrounds. My go-to paper is Arteza 140lb watercolor paper. Once it is cut to size, I spritzed it with a resist spray for background stars. Then I sprayed with Candied Apple Red, Prize Ribbon Distress Spray, and water until I was happy with the result. Once dry, I sponged Black Soot Distress Oxide onto the edges and randomly throughout as desired. A finished the background with a splattering of white gauche.

Vader is stamped with Memento black and ink and colored with simple Copic Coloring (100,C3,C5,C7,C9,R29).
